Disease properties:
It happens at every age, when the animal is stressed or during season changes. It occurs very fast in the herd and has a high death rate. Duck is suddenly death, congestion is presented at necropsy.
Agents:
Pasteurella multocida.
Transmission routes
Respiratory and gastrointestinal tract.
Clinical signs:
Fever, nasal discharge, difficult to breath.
Sudden death, congestion is presented at necropsy.
Meningitis, make the duck have twisted neck.
Egg is broken in breeder ducks and death.
Prevention:
Take good care of the herd, combine with vaccines, antibiotics, antiseptics to eliminate the infected agents.
Treatment:
It could be treated with antibiotics.
Because it happens so fast, we need to give drug by injection in combination with feed and water mixing of the drug.
Injection: choose one of these antibiotics:
+ BIO-PENI-STREPTO: 1ml/ 5kg BW
+ BIO-ANFLOX 100: 1ml/10kg BW
Intramuscular continuously for 3 – 4 days.
Mix into drinking water or feed: choose one of these products:
+ BIO-OXYTETRACOL: 2g/1.5 liters of water or 2g/0.6kg of feed.
+ BIO-TETRA.COLIVIT: 2g/liter of water or 4g/kg of feed.
+ BIO-AMOXICILLIN 50%:2g/5-6 liters of water or 2g/ 2-3 kg of feed.
+ BIO-KITASULTRIM: 10g/kg of feed.
Attention:
During the treatment period, you must provide enough electrolytes and vitamins for the herd. Treating the corpses by deeply bury them, along with lime powder (CaO) or formal.
Disinfection for rearing material with BIOXIDE, BIODINE ® or BIOSEPT and leave the cage free for a period of time. The cages should be moved to a new location if possible.
